The Alpha-Stim 100 may be categorized into 2 general categories. The second category, uses the application of ear clip electrodes for anxiety, depression and/or insomnia control, is known as cranial electrotherapy stimulation (CES).

PST (Pulsed Signal Therapy) is a non-invasive therapy that has been shown to exert a beneficial effect on the two main clinical features (decrease pain and increase functional capacity) of Osteoarthritis and Sports-type injuries to any joint or Musculoskeletal disorder without side effects.
